SMS to Mail
Automatically forward incoming SMS to an email address
Our SMS to Mail gateway allows you to send incoming SMS to any email address. In detail this means: You send an SMS to a shared or own inbound number, our gateway converts this message into an email and delivers it to the given mail address.
Whether you should use a shared inbound number or your own inbound number depends on what you want to use the SMS2Mail feature for. In either case, the SMS to Mail gateway allows you to send important emails even when you do not have access to the Internet.
Do you want to forward incoming SMS for two-factor authentication to your team by mail? Of course you can use our SMS to mail gateway for this purpose as well. In this case, we strongly recommend that you book your own physical phone number with us. We would also like to point out that forwarding 2FA codes via mail to multiple people reduces the security of the authentication. Nevertheless, this variant can be an effective solution.
If you would like to know more about forwarding 2FA codes from SMS to email, we recommend you to read our blogpost on the topic. Do you want to send two-factor authentication codes to your customers yourself? In this case, we would like to recommend our two-factor authentication product page.
Need to send an urgent message to a specific mail address but can’t connect to the Internet right now? In this case, you can also use our SMS to mail service via our shared inbound numbers. Send the SMS that you want to send as mail to one of these shared numbers.
It is important that you specify the mail address to which your message should be sent at the beginning of the message. Only after that mail address, write the content of your message. We will then forward this message to the specified mail address.
This service is free of charge for all customers, you only pay what an SMS costs according to the contract with your mobile operator.
If you use a dedicated inbound number to receive responses via SMS from your customers, you can have these incoming messages forwarded as mail even more easily. For example, you can have an incoming SMS sent to your support mail address. Your support team is thus quickly and easily informed about incoming messages without having to log into a separate program.
Of course, other forwarding options are also available to you. For example, you can also have your incoming messages forwarded via webhook or via SMS. You can easily make the corresponding settings in our webapp.
